Writing

I’ve worked as a journalist writing dispatches for the last 20 years. That’s taken me across the United States, whether in the northwest focusing on a town fighting its planned demise all the way to the boyhood home of Johnny Cash in the muddy rice fields of Arkansas. I’ve been a foreign correspondent for over a decade, covering everything from violence in Nigeria, the Taliban insurgency and takeover of Afghanistan to the skyscrapers and the smaller wonders of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

I’m a deadline-focused writer able to make the tightest deadlines while adhering to the highest standards of accuracy and fairness. I’m able to piece together stories from user-generated content online and satellite imagery from above to tell the stories in denied-access areas. I’m also able to deal with criticism and threats, whether from rifle-wielding militants to suited harassers of wealthy petro-states. My ability to piece together stories from strands worldwide has been acknowledged by The New York Times and others.
